Fish Skull Zonker
A compact, heavy hitting streamer built to move big fish with minimal effort. The combination of a weighted fish skull head and rabbit gives it a perfect jigging, pulsing action that triggers aggressive strikes from trout, pike and even burbot. It sinks fast, tracks straight, and swims with that irresistible natural movement that zonkers are famous for.
When to fish it: Use it when the fish are sitting deep or hugging structure - especially in colder water, and under ice. It shines on lakes when trout are cruising drop-offs and on rivers when flows are up and clarity is low.
How to fish it: Fish it with a slow, deliberate strip or short twitch retrieves. Let the weighted head do the work - lift and drop to make that rabbit strip breathe. Under the ice, jig it 6-18 inches from the bottom with slow hops and pauses. In open water, try a sink-tip or full sink line and keep it close to the deck.
Why I love it: Because it simply catches fish. The head gives realism and depth, while the body has non-stop action - even when you are barely moving the fly. It's on of those streamers that works year-round and converts lazy followers into committed eaters.
